How We Teach

Our Curriculum

Rooted in Nigeria's national curriculum, enriched with global best practices, and designed to develop the whole child.

Our Philosophy

Knowledge is Not Just
What You Know — It's
What You Can Do

The FMKS curriculum follows Nigeria's national curriculum framework as approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, while incorporating enrichment activities and approaches informed by international educational research.

We believe that children learn best when they are engaged, challenged, and supported. Our curriculum is therefore designed to be structured but not rigid — giving teachers the flexibility to respond to the needs of their students while ensuring all learning outcomes are met.

Beyond academic content, we integrate character development, civic awareness, and digital skills throughout all year groups, ensuring that every graduate of FMKS is truly prepared for the modern world.

Learning at FMKS
Framework

Six Pillars of the FMKS Curriculum

Academic Excellence

Rigorous subject coverage aligned to national standards with regular formative and summative assessments to track progress.

Character Formation

Values education woven into every subject and daily school culture — honesty, respect, service, and resilience are taught and modelled.

Digital Literacy

ICT is taught as a standalone subject and integrated across others. Students graduate as confident and responsible digital citizens.

Social Development

Group work, debates, prefect systems, and clubs develop leadership, communication, and teamwork — critical for life beyond school.

Physical Wellbeing

Physical Education is compulsory at all levels. We believe healthy bodies support healthy minds — sport is treated as essential, not optional.

Creative Expression

Art, music, drama, and cultural activities give every child a space to discover and express their unique voice and talents.

Assessment

How We Measure Progress

1

Continuous Assessment (CA)

Class tests, assignments, projects, and participation scores recorded throughout each term.

2

Mid-Term & End-of-Term Exams

Formal examinations each term. Results are compiled into detailed report cards sent to parents.

3

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Termly meetings where parents can discuss their child's progress directly with subject teachers and class teachers.

4

National Examinations

BECE (JSS 3), WAEC, and NECO (SSS 3) — we prepare students thoroughly and our results speak for themselves.
